Turkey receives first signal from its new Turksat 5A satellite
The American company SpaceX implemented a launch of the Falcon 9 rocket carrier with Turkish communications satellite Turksat 5A, TASS reported.

The launch from the spaceport in Cape Canaveral, Florida, was at 21:14 East American time. It is expected that the satellite to start working in the second half of this year.

According to Anadolu Agency, the fifth generation satellite will be operated for 30 years, writes BTA. It will help provide television services across Turkey, Europe, the Middle East, Africa and other regions.

Turkey received the first signal from its new communications satellite Turksat 5A /Turksat 5A/ 35 minutes after launch, Anadolu Agency reported, citing the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure.

Adil Karaismailoglu also said that the satellite's journey to its establishment in orbit will take four months.”Then we will conduct tests and the satellite will be activated,” he added.

Turkey plans to bring into orbit another satellite - Turksat 5B by June this year. At the same time, the country is building entirely on its own the Turksat 6A satellite, which will be launched in 2022. Turkey's goal is to rank among the world's ten nations producing communications satellites by 2023.

In 2017, the country signed with Airbus a contract for the production of communications satellites Turksat 5A and Turksat 5B, reminds Anadolu Agency.
