“The successful orbit of 60 Starlink satellites has been confirmed,” the company wrote.
The launch of the Falcon 9 carrier rocket occurred from the Cape Canaveral Spaceport in Florida. A few minutes later, the first stage of the medium, previously used five times during launches, landed on the “Of Course I Still Love You” platform in the Atlantic. The mission was repeatedly delayed due to adverse weather and overlap in schedules with other launches.
In May 2019, the first 60 Starlink satellites were launched into space, in November of the same year the second group of satellites was launched into orbit, the third, fourth and fifth in January and February of this year. The previous launch took place on April 22.
The Starlink network is designed to provide Internet access to users across the planet by deploying a large number of small satellites weighing up to 500 kg in low Earth orbit. This communication system is envisaged to provide broadband access to the Internet at a speed of 1 gigabit per second, which meets the 5G standard everywhere, including in inaccessible and sparsely populated areas.
