Inaugurated China's first autonomous car test facility with underground parking

China's first autonomous car test base, with six practical scenarios, including residential area, industrial, urban and commercial areas, a university district and of natural landmarks, opened in Shanghai on Saturday. It aims to accelerate the development of the intelligently connected car industry.
The newly discovered area also covers different terrain, simulates all kinds of risks and is applicable to all vehicles, Radio China transmits.

Additionally, it has a 1.1-kilometer underground car park equipped with cameras and sensors, a 5G network, artificial intelligence, big data and cloud computing. This will help solve the existing problem of positioning and navigation of autonomous cars in underground garages.

Open test areas for autonomous cars are important for the development of smart connected vehicles. Over 70 of them have been created in China so far, most of which focus on road tests.
