China debuts with new high-speed train for extremely low temperatures

On Wednesday, China debuted with its high-speed electric train, which can operate in temperatures of up to minus 40 degrees Celsius, Radio China reported.
It is from the series “Fusin” and has a design speed of 350 km/h. It is expected to move on the high-speed route between Beijing and Harbin.

At extremely low temperatures, condensing water can affect the distribution box and safe operation of trains, the developers said. They used a layer of micronome ceramic porous material for the box, which was able to store condensed water in the pores.

The chief constructor of the new Jia Ciendzier train said it has an automated anti-freeze function in the braking system.

By the end of last year, 1,036 electric trains “Fusin” had travelled a total of 836 million km and carried 827 million passengers.
