Brazilian clinic developed the first genetic test for COVID-19

The authoritative Brazilian clinic Albert Einstein has developed the world's first genetic test to detect the new coronavirus, TASS reported.
The agency cited a publication on the G-1 information portal. According to him, the high-precision test was patented on US territory in the World Intellectual Property Organization's international patent system. It will be available for diagnosis of the infection from the beginning of June, BTA transmits.

The basis of the development of Brazilian scientists was used sequencing of a new generation. It analyzes small fragments of DNA to determine the disease. In order for SARS-COVID-2 to be recognized, the researchers adapted this method to work with RNA present in viruses of a different type. The test possesses 100 percent accuracy and excludes the possibility of obtaining false results.

Its effectiveness is comparable to PCR-tests currently used to detect Covid-19. This is the first genetic test that can be used for mass diagnosis, as 1,536 samples can be tested with it - 16 times more, compared to PCR tests. As a biomaterial, saliva or nosolactic secretion can be used.
